The search begins for the best butchers in New Zealand, with entries for the 2020 Alto Young Butcher, ANZCO Foods Butcher Apprentice and the all-new Pure South Master Butcher of the Year, are now officially open. The competitions aim to find the best talent in the retail meat sector and this is your chance to showcase your skills and be recognised by both your peers and those within the industry.

The exposure and skills you gain during the competition will give you a fantastic head start in your career. Or, if you're looking to make the Hellers Sharp Blacks, our national butchery team, then this is the competition to be in as competition experience plays a key part in the selection process.

Regional competitions are happening throughout August, with the addition of a Central North Island Regional, and the Grand Final is taking place in Auckland on Thursday 29 October.

Our Meat Club workshops will be online via Facebook so you can tune in and watch members of the Hellers Sharp Blacks give you some direction and tips on the competition.
