COVID-19 Update: Alert Levels 2 & 3 Information
Wednesday 12 August - 9.45am
As you are aware, Auckland will be going into Alert Level 3 from noon today for three days, with the rest of New Zealand going into Alert Level 2 at noon today for three days. Information on the two Alert Levels can be found on the official Government COVID-19 website, CLICK HERE.
We have sought clarification from MPI and have been advised that the Alert Levels have not changed since we were last at these levels in April/May. For retail butchers this means:
Alert Level 3 - retail butchers must not open their doors to the public. Contactless click and collect and contactless delivery ONLY.
Businesses should maintain hygiene measures, including physical distancing between staff, hand washing and regularly cleaning surfaces.

Alert Level 2 - retail butchers can have customers on their premises if they can meet public health requirements. This means retail butchers should:
· must keep customers 2 metres apart
· do not need to keep records of customers to enable contact tracing
· There is no maximum number of customers allowed in a store, as long as they can keep 2 metres apart at all times.

The key public health requirements stay the same at Alert Level 2. Businesses should maintain hygiene measures, including physical distancing, hand washing and regularly cleaning surfaces.
Golden rules for business at Alert Level 2
Do everything you can to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission at work — we all have a part to play in keeping each other safe. COVID-19 is still out there. Play it safe.
· All businesses can operate if they can do so safely. Alternative ways of working are still encouraged where possible.
· Talk with your workers to identify risks and ways to manage them.
· Ask everyone, workers, contractors and customers, with cold or flu-like symptoms to stay away from your premises.
· Keep groups of customers 2 metres apart for retail businesses.
· Keep contact tracing records of anyone who will have close interaction for example workers, contractors or customers. Retail businesses are not required to keep contact tracing records.
· Reduce the number of shared surfaces, and regularly disinfect them.
· Wash your hands. Wash your hands. Wash your hands.
Rod and I will continue to work on this and keep you updated.
